NCAA Bracket Challenge for Prairie Highlands 2021
Posted on Mar 9th, 2021

The Social Committee of the Prairie Highlands Homes Association (PHHA) is pleased to again sponsor the Tenth Annual March Madness Bracket Competition.  This event gets bigger every year, and we look forward to your participation.

As we have seen in previous tournaments, you do not have to be a serious bracketologist to enjoy the competition, but there are a few things that you need to know:

This competition is FREE to all participants.  You simply need to register, make your selections, sit back and enjoy the games.

You must meet the following requirements in order to participate:
  • a current resident of Prairie Highlands living within the PHHA neighborhoods (Enclave, Estates, Reserve, and the Villas);
  • 18 years of age or older;
  • in good standing with all PHHA dues, fees, and restrictions.
We will continue to use the Bracket Competition site hosted by CBSSports.com.
The competition will begin on March 19th with the first round of 64 teams and will continue until the final game on April 5th.
You will receive points for every correct selection of winning teams for all 63 games.
  • Round 1 (64 teams) – 2 points for each correct selection
  • Round 2 (32 teams) – 3 points for each correct selection
  • Round 3 (Sweet 16) – 4 points for each correct selection
  • Round 4 (Elite 8) – 6 points for each correct selection
  • Round 5 (Final Four) – 10 points for each correct selection
  • Round 6 (Championship game) – 17 points for the correct selection
Winners of our competition will be determined by the highest cumulative point total.   In the event of a tie, final winners will be determined by a tie-breaker, the closest estimate of the total number of points scored by both teams in the final game.

The first place winner will receive a check for $100 courtesy of the PHHA Social Committee.  The second and third place winners will receive checks for $50 and $25 respectively.  Any side bets made within your own household among family members participating in this event are encouraged, but completely up to you.

If you participated 2 years ago, since there was no tourney last year, please look for an email that I sent to you announcing that the pool is open.  If you did not receive that note, or you did not play last year please send me an email at wjgarre123@outlook.com (I'm trying to determine if the names from 2 years ago will still receive emails.  Bear with me while I figure it out over the next couple of days.) with your:
  • Name
  • Prairie Highlands street address
  • email address
  • telephone number
Once I receive this information, you will receive an email from CBS Sports with the subject line, Bill Garrett invited You to a Mayhem Pool”.  Open the email and click on the link for the phhoabracket.  If you participated in our previous competitions, welcome back, you should already be registered on the site.  If this is your first time with us, welcome, you will need to register on the CBS Website.

Two last things to remember.  Everyone in your household 18 years or older can play, but you can only complete one bracket per person.  Also, you can only complete one bracket for each e-mail address.  Please let me know if someone in the family does not have a unique email address, and I will manually enter their selections for them.

Once you are registered, sit back and relax.  The brackets will be available for selections beginning March 15th after Selection Sunday..  I will send emails with reminders and updates, but you will be able to make your bracket selections /changes before the tipoff of the first games in the round of 64 teams beginning March 19th.

We look forward to your participation this year.

Good Luck…
Bill Garrett
Bracket Manager
Thank you,
