Sept 2020 Prairie Highlands Updates
Posted on Sep 8th, 2020

I wanted to touch base with you as we move past Labor Day toward Fall in Prairie Highlands.  We just experienced a tremendous Labor Day weekend here at Prairie Highlands but today is a bit cooler.  I know Fall is coming but its been a great summer!!

We've been busy this summer from a Board perspective.  The main piece of work accomplished in the past few weeks was "Tuckpointing" all of our stone monuments.  The Board hired Kingdom Stone to come in and repair / touchup all of our stone monuments.   This cost the association approximately $8800 and the work was accomplished in about a week.  Considering that no work had been done on these monuments in 18 years, they were in need of repair.  Going forward we will ask future Boards to keep an eye on these monuments.  By doing this, future costs should remain low and the monuments will look good..  Also, as we move forward, we will be taking a look at the cost to build out a monument on the West Entrance at St. Andrews to better advertise our neighborhood.

The Board has also been exploring upgrades to our web software.  There would be a small cost to the upgrade but it will facilitate the committee work and offer an enhanced end user experience.  As we move forward we are hopeful the PH website will be utilized not just by committee members but by all residents.  My thanks to Jermery Jones for his work in making all of the Board aware of the capabilities this new software can offer!!

I know it's a cold week but we have arranged for the pool to remain open until September 14th.  To celebrate another summer of swimming enjoyment at the pool we've arranged for Crave Taco Truck to come to the pool on Sunday September 13th from 4:30 to 6:30.  The ladies from the Social Committee will also be there with cookies for those of you who have a sweet tooth, like me!!  Come on out and get some GREAT Taco's and Cookies this Sunday

For those of you who live along Turnberry, the city of Olathe has said they cannot do anything about the trees to the east of you in Oak Run.  Since many of those lots have homes on them, the trees are the responsibility of individual home owners in Oak Run.  Neither the HOA nor the developer are responsible for these trees either since many are on homeowner property.  The individual homeowners are responsible from what we can gather.  If anyone can find a different answer, please let me know as I've gone through OlatheConnect twice and received the same response.

One unfortunate note needs to be sent out about our HOA Declarations..  I'm getting multiple complaints about people leaving their garbage cans outside all week long.   Each resident signed up to abide by the rules of the Homes Association prior to moving in.  Here is what the Declarations state about garbage cans:
Declaration of Restrictions: 9r: No trash, refuse, or garbage can or receptacle shall be placed on any Lot outside a residence, except .after sundown of the day before or upon the day for regularly scheduled trash collection and except for grass bags placed in the back or side yard pending regularly scheduled trash collection.
Please don’t be the person who is sent a letter by the Board about your garbage cans.  Thanks for taking care of this.  By the way, all the HOA By-laws and Declarations of Restrictions have been moved outside the sign-in page on the PH website.  This means you do not have to sign in to review these documents.

Thanks again for your time and for being such a great neighborhood!!
